UWI 'out-thunk' Carlton in what could be described as the midfield battle of the season.

Playing on UWI's new and... SWEEET... astroturf the substitute bench was overflowing, a pity only 3 subs are allowed.

Jesse Turton started Carlton's initial advantage with two "Ronaldo" step overs and the first shot of the game on 5 minutes which wasn't far off.

UWI dug their heels into the rubber surface to suppress Carlton's early attacks but Derek Scutt split open the student's defence with a pass that merited multiple replays on Fox Sports to Jeff Jackman who offered the UWI keeper something soft, like sponge cake.

The game swung UWI's way as Carlton adopted a more direct approach leaving the fluent play to UWI who were rewarded with the opening goal in the 22nd minute - a lovely chip over the Carlton defenders into the run of UWI's #6 who slotted the ball bottom left past the advancing Dillion Clarke.

UWI turned up the heat in the second half with their second and a brace for the UWI #6.

Team: Dillion Clark, Jesse Turton, Kurtley Clarke (Chris Bostic 43'), Jeff jackman (Nick Voss 51'), Raynor thomas, Paige Bailey, Kevin Scott, Toby Johnson, Derek Scutt, Tito Grazette, Akeem Farnum (Jamar Cottle 10').
